Unacceptable risk to road users

While I appreciate that surface dressing is much cheaper than full resurfacing the amount of loose stone left on the carriageway has created an unacceptable risk to road users. Vehicles are continually throwing up stones, resulting in damage to windscreens, paintwork and other vehicles. This presents not only a financial burden for motorists but also a potential road safety hazard if drivers are distracted or a windscreen is significantly damaged.
The temporary warning signs and reduced speed limits (now removed) are not sufficient to prevent damage when many vehicles continue to travel at normal speeds, and the volume of loose chippings appears excessive
I am not submitting this as a compensation claim. Instead, I ask that the Council investigate the standard of the work, review whether sufficient sweeping of loose chippings has been carried out, and consider whether additional measures are required to protect road users until the road is safe.
I would appreciate a response outlining:
Whether the surface dressing met the required specification. When the road will be swept to remove excess loose chippings. Whether the Council monitors and records complaints relating to vehicle damage following surface dressing. What steps will be taken to reduce the risk of further damage to vehicles using this road. Please treat this as a formal complaint under the Council's complaints procedure. I look forward to receiving your response
