Damaged Pavement in Echt Village Posing Serious Hazard to Pedestrians with Prams (Several Months Unresolved)

I am writing to formally complain about a long-standing and dangerous defect on the pavement in the village of Echt. As shown in the attached photograph, there is a significant broken and uneven section of the pavement surface (with chunks of asphalt missing and sharp, jagged edges) right next to the kerb. This damage has been present for several months. I understand it was initially caused by a council road sweeper. This defect is now making it extremely dangerous to push my newborn baby’s pram along the pavement. The narrow safe path forces me to manoeuvre the pram very close to the broken area or onto the road itself, which is unacceptable and creates a serious risk of the pram tipping, the wheels getting stuck, or injury to my baby. As a parent with a very young child, this is causing me significant stress and concern every time I need to walk in the village. I have been patient waiting for this to be addressed, but the continued delay is no longer tolerable. I therefore request that this matter is treated as a high priority and that the damaged section of pavement is repaired immediately. Please can you: 1. Confirm receipt of this complaint and the attached photo. 2. Provide a clear timeframe for when the repair will be carried out. 3. Let me know the reference number for this case so I can follow it up if necessary. I look forward to your urgent response and prompt resolution of this hazard.

We’ve had a look at the issue and we have now passed your enquiry to our local Roads Team to assess what can be done to resolve the matter. We’ll let you know when that assessment has taken place.

We’re currently developing our approach to displaying priorities and target completion times to keep residents better informed. In the meantime, we’ll continue to assess the level of risk and allocate resources based on urgency, location, and the availability of repair teams.
