Road surface deterioration has created a longitudinal depression along the kerb, presenting a potential trip hazard for pedestrians and an increased risk of vehicle or cyclist damage. The defect should be inspected and repaired before further deterioration occurs.

A section of the road adjacent to the kerb has deteriorated, resulting in a longitudinal depression with broken asphalt and signs of progressive subsidence. The defect appears to be worsening and may indicate failure of the road edge or the underlying ground.

Safety Risk:

Potential trip hazard for pedestrians. Increased risk of damage to vehicle tyres, wheels and suspension. Hazard for cyclists and motorcyclists, who could lose control if a wheel enters the depression. Ongoing deterioration may result in a larger road failure if left unaddressed.

  • We’re currently developing our approach to displaying priorities and target completion times to keep residents better informed. In the meantime, we’ll continue to assess the level of risk and allocate resources based on urgency, location, and the availability of repair teams.

    This defect has been added to our works programme and will be scheduled accordingly.
