Unlit Builders Skip on Road

Reported via desktop in the Road Safety Issue category anonymously at 22:40, Friday 26 June 2026

Sent to Aberdeenshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 971920.

There is a builder's skip on the road outside 37 Torry Street, Huntly. It has been there for a week or more and doesn't have any warning lights on it after dark or traffic cones around it.

Everyone parks on the other side of the road as it is quite narrow and this skip is in the direct path of vehicles, forcing them to go around it.

This was first reported on Tuesday, 23 June and then closed by Aberdeenshire Council on Friday, 26 June with no remedial action being taken.

Presumably Section 65 of the Road (Scotland) Act 1984 doesn't apply when the offender is the local council.

  • State changed to: Planned

  • There must be an awful lot of planning involved as the bin is still there and it still hasn't had any lights or cones put on it at night.
