Poor Visibility at Junction (South Deeside Road)

Good morning, I would like to raise a safety concern regarding poor visibility when exiting Forestry and Land Scotland, Kirkton of Durris, Banchory, AB31 6BP onto the South Deeside Road. There have been several near misses due to limited sightlines when turning onto the main road. The issue appears to be caused by restricted visibility from vegetation and the layout of the junction. We would like to request that the council: - Assess visibility at this junction - Consider suitable measures to improve safety, such as vegetation clearance or other traffic safety solutions We appreciate that traffic mirrors may not always be appropriate, but would welcome an assessment of whether any measures could be implemented to reduce risk. Traffic at this location is significant, particularly from Forestry and Land Scotland vehicles. Please let us know if a site visit can be arranged. Kind regards

  • We’ve completed our inspection and identified that the issue relates to an obstruction or defect for which a private party is responsible, under the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984.

    The Roads Authority is taking appropriate action to resolve the matter. This may include requiring the responsible individual or organisation to carry out remedial work within a specified timescale.

    We’ll continue to monitor the situation and take further steps if necessary to ensure compliance.
