Description: When there is heavy rain, the street drain/gully outside Barber INC at 9 Barclay Street, Stonehaven does not cope with the amount of water. The water backs up and runs across the pavement instead of draining away properly.
This is causing surface water to collect outside the shop and on the public footpath. The rear drain at the back of my shop also stops draining properly during heavy rain, and it appears to be connected to the same street drainage system. When the street drain cannot cope, the water at the rear of the property also does not clear.
Could the council please inspect and clean the street gully/drain outside the shop and check whether the drainage line is blocked or restricted?
This is mainly a problem during heavy rainfall and could create a slipping hazard for pedestrians, as well as a risk of water backing up near the business premises.

We have an update – we’ve completed our assessment of the gully defect you reported and evaluated the risk it poses.
The level of risk determines our target response times, which are then used to prioritise and programme work across the network.
In this case, the defect does not require immediate attention, but it will be picked up the next time we are carrying out routine gully maintenance on this road.
The location has been recorded and will be monitored during future inspections to check for any changes in condition. -
We’ve issued this work out to one of our crews - we’ll let you know when the job is completed.
