Road closure

Reported via mobile in the Request for Advice or Information category anonymously at 12:43, Thursday 14 May 2026

Sent to Aberdeenshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 965685.

I am emailing you again on behalf of the residents of The Brambles housing development in Sauchen, this consists of Cluny Meadows, Cluny Gardens and Cluny Park, as I have not heard back from anyone regarding my intial email of concerns, other than Alexander Burnett MSP in which I thank you for reaching out promtly.

The community council and several other residents have had unsuccessful attempts via phone calls and emails at getting through to anyone at Scottish Water and Aberdeenshire Council (Roads) with clear answers to this issue.

This housing estate has approx 90+ homes that will be affected by this closure with over 150+ vehicles that will not be able to get in and out of the estate for work, school runs, appointments and so on. The current road is clearly not fit for purpose to access this many properties and proves that a secondary access is needed moving forward for situations like this.

1. How do you expect residents of a small rural village with no shop or amenities to be stuck in the estate and have time off work or school at such short notice?

2. Where do you expect local residents to park that many vehicles at one time with limited parking available in the village? Or owners of EV's to plug there vehicles in over night?

Car Insurance policies state owners cars can only be parked at their own address overnight.

3. This is a major health and safety issue and urgently requires attention. If the residents can not get in and out then how can you expect the emergency services to do so in an emergency?.

4. What arrangements are in place for scheduled General Waste Collections on Wedneday the 20th of May?

I still call for you to delay these works until better planning has been completed in terms of access for all residents in Cluny Meadows, Cluny Gardens & Cluny Park, again, this is not just 1 or 2 properties, it is over 90!

This is effectively disruption to half of the village and must be taken more
