Drainage culvert collapsing beneath road
Reported via mobile in the Gully category anonymously at 16:44, Tuesday 3 March 2026
Sent to Aberdeenshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 955875.
Culvert/stone drain passing under the road is beginning to collapse. This culvert is already restrictive and causes issue in high rain/thaw conditions however it is now beginning to collapse in. This puts the houses nearby at risk of flooding if it collapses at a time where there is a lot of water present and the road surface would also collapse. Lots of movement of the large stones is present and some have already fallen into the ditch

We have an update – we’ve completed our assessment of the gully defect you reported and evaluated the risk it poses.
The level of risk determines our target response times, which are then used to prioritise and programme work across the network.
In this case, the defect does not require immediate attention, but it will be picked up the next time we are carrying out routine gully maintenance on this road.
The location has been recorded and will be monitored during future inspections to check for any changes in condition.State changed to: No further action
