Retaining wall issue

Reported via mobile in the Roadside Fence category anonymously at 16:21, Thursday 5 February 2026

Sent to Aberdeenshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 950728.

The retaining wall to the 947 has moved. Located at The Linn, Howe of Gellymill we have recently noticed that the wall has moved. This wall belongs to the roads department of the council. We would like this investigated as it could collapse onto our driveway.

Updates

  • We’ve had a look at the issue and have now passed your enquiry to our local Roads Team for assessment. They’ll determine what action is needed and we’ll update you once that assessment has taken place.

Thanks again for taking the time to get in touch with us.

In the meantime, you can find out more information on a range of topics on our website at www.aberdeenshire.gov.uk/roads-and-travel/roads.

  • Category changed from ‘Request for Advice or Information’ to ‘Roadside Fence’

Posted by Aberdeenshire Council at 09:34, Friday 6 February 2026

  • We’ve completed our inspection and were unable to log a defect requiring action by the Roads Service.

In many cases, this means the issue may relate to land or infrastructure that is not maintained by our service. This could include areas looked after by another part of the Council — such as housing, landscape, or waste services — or by a third party, such as a utility provider, housing association, developer, or private landowner.

If the situation changes, or if you’re able to provide additional information, you’re welcome to get back in touch. However, if the issue continues to fall outside the Roads Service’s responsibility, it will remain with the appropriate service or owner to address.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention

    State changed to: Closed
