Drains at both sides of junction are blocked, causing road surface flooding

Reported via desktop in the Gully category anonymously at 15:43, Wednesday 4 February 2026

Sent to Aberdeenshire Council 21 hours, 11 minutes later. Council ref: 950360.

Both drains either side of the junction have been blocked for a sustained period of time. This is a busy road with a high level of through traffic and more importantly a primary school commuting / walking route. These blocked drains not only cause additional road safety hazards, but are also causing nuisance to children and parents during school times where cars pass through the standing surface water and soak pedestrian walkers / children / parents.

  • We have an update – we’ve completed our assessment of the gully defect you reported and evaluated the risk it poses.

The level of risk determines our target response times, which are then used to prioritise and programme work across the network.

In this case, the defect does not require immediate attention, but it will be picked up the next time we are carrying out routine gully maintenance on this road.

The location has been recorded and will be monitored during future inspections to check for any changes in condition.

State changed to: No further action
