Street light

Reported via mobile in the Street Light category anonymously at 13:27, Wednesday 4 February 2026

Sent to Aberdeenshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 950326.

I am writing to formally complain about the current state of the lamppost outside my property, which appears to have been partially removed and left in an unsafe and unfinished condition.

As shown, the remaining post has been wrapped in material and duct tape, with loose tape hanging off. This presents a clear safety concern, particularly as I have young children. In addition, since the lamppost is no longer functioning, the area is now extremely dark at night. This has made it difficult and unsafe for me to reverse my car into my driveway, as the wall and surrounding area cannot be properly seen.

If this lamppost is not going to be replaced, I request that it is fully removed as a matter of urgency. Leaving it in its current state is unacceptable and poses an ongoing risk to both pedestrians and vehicles.

Please confirm what action will be taken and provide a timescale for resolving this issue. If the matter is not addressed promptly, I will have no option but to escalate this further, as this is a serious safety concern.

I look forward to your urgent response.
