Thank you for contacting Aberdeenshire Council regarding the ongoing winter weather.
Our current focus is to deploy our currently finite resources on a priority basis and our focus for our gritter fleet over the last few days has been on the primary network, the main A and B class roads, and then deploying onto the more minor roads. At the same time, our Farmer/Contractor ploughs have been ploughing the routes in their areas as well as providing emergency assistance to vehicles that have become stuck in drifts. The difficulty has been that as soon as an area is ploughed it has been drifting back in. With more snow expected overnight, and wind speeds remaining high, we suspect that situation will not improve markedly for some time yet.
Whilst we don’t have the exact details for this area in terms of gritter routes at present, as the situation is changing constantly, it will be treated in accordance with the current priority route plan. On more rural locations this may end up being a tractor based plough in the first instance and then followed up with a gritter when resources allow. Local Road Teams are hard at work to try and cover as many areas as possible.
With regard to the need for an ambulance or medical emergencies, we have processes in place to support Emergency Services on “Blue Light” call outs.State changed to: Closed
