Speed signage, whiteford, pitcaple

Reported via desktop in the Signs & Bollards category anonymously at 09:20, Wednesday 22 October 2025

Sent to Aberdeenshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 929728.

During the recent move to 20 mph in Whiteford, the 20 mph sign at the end of the public road exiting Whiteford, on the road to Logie Elphinstone Estate, was removed and replaced by an ‘end of speed limit’ sign. Can I respectfully request that the 20 mph sign is returned immediately? This is an increasingly busy, unadopted single track road, with both local traffic and couriers/delivery vans, buses and cars for weddings, and agricultural/forestry traffic. There are many ramblers, dog walkers, and currently a number of deer, pheasants and other wildlife frequenting it too. I recently had the use of a courtesy car which had the feature of displaying the recommended speed limit on any road, and it was 20 mph on the road in question. I had this confirmed by a visitor recently when I asked her to note the speed in her new car and to let me know, which she did, and it was 20. Please confirm receipt of this email, and confirm that action will be taken to restore the safety of the 20 mph speed limit previously enjoyed. Thank you.

  • The location shown is not correct. The sign in question is on the road out of Whiteford, from Whiteford Road (AB51 5 EB) on to the single track unadopted road leading on to the Logie Elphinstone Estate and heading for AB51 5EE.

  • This is the sign in question. The writing says “End of public road”.
