Tree trunk split - risk of falling on path

Reported via desktop in the Overhanging Trees & Vegetation category anonymously at 13:30, Fri 8 August 2025

Sent to Aberdeenshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 920154.

The split in this trunk was reported in November 2024 but no feed back was provided (incident number 872881). After the recent winds the split in the tree has extended by about 4 feet and opened up and part is at risk of falling on the path (to Elrick school) and the other half on my fence. A moderate size branch has also come off.

  • We’ve completed our inspection and were unable to log a defect requiring action by the Roads Service.

In many cases, this means the issue may relate to land or infrastructure that is not maintained by our service. This could include areas looked after by another part of the Council — such as housing, landscape, or waste services — or by a third party, such as a utility provider, housing association, developer, or private landowner.

If the situation changes, or if you’re able to provide additional information, you’re welcome to get back in touch. However, if the issue continues to fall outside the Roads Service’s responsibility, it will remain with the appropriate service or owner to address.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention
