Hazardous deteriorating road surface towards the bottom of Skateraw road
Sent to Aberdeenshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 919211.
There are a number of very large potholes along the edges of the road at the bottom of Skateraw road. Some of these extend all the way through the road surface to the sediment underneath and recent heavy rain is now causing the underlying sediment to be washed away.
These potholes have been here a number of years and are rapidly getting worse due to the roads heavy use by people visiting Newtonhill bay and using the car park at the bottom.
There are residents living adjacent to these damaged roads with mobility issues who are now struggling to get out of their house. These roads are also now becoming impassable for residents living at the bottom and visitors to the area and car park.

We’ve had a look at the issue and we have now passed your enquiry to our local Roads Team to assess what can be done to resolve the matter. We’ll let you know when that assessment has taken place.

We have an update - we’ve completed our assessment of the defect logged with us and evaluated the risk it poses.
This risk level determines our target response time which are then are used to prioritise and programme work.
At this stage, other defects posing a higher risk are taking priority and we are not planning to carry out any repair work here at this time. The defect location has been recorded and will be assessed again during the next planned inspection for any further deterioration.
