Query regarding gritting/ploughing

Reported via desktop in the Road Gritting category anonymously at 15:01, Friday 2 October 2026

Sent to Aberdeenshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 985250.

Customer called with concerns regarding this road from the junction with the B9119 all the way to Comers. In the winter the road is never treated and hasn't been for years. The Council never grit the road and there is no farmer contracted to plough the road either so winter is a struggle. The local farmer does try to clear the road but is not contracted to do so. Feel they require more help this year for winter and would like someone to get back to discuss what plans/support are in place for this road this coming winter.

  • During periods of winter weather and our limited resources, it is not possible to ensure that all parts of the road network are always kept free of ice or snow.

We must prioritise which routes are gritted and ploughed, concentrating on busy, strategic routes first. This means that in times of severe winter weather there may be a delay before we are able to treat more minor roads and residential streets.

Residents are encouraged to visit our website for full details of our winter maintenance service, including gritting routes at: www.aberdeenshire.gov.uk/roads-and-travel/roads/winter-maintenance

We value all enquiries and will use your feedback to improve future services. However, please note that no further updates will be provided on individual enquiries.
